I just read that you should not be buying a Fresh Spinach from the US as they have had an outbreak of E Coli. They said not to buy anything that has Product of United States or Produce from United States. There has been several cases about 90 and 1 death so far. Washing will not get rid of it but cooking MAY but not recommended. Now is a good time to buy from the local farmer I guess. This was on my Home page from Telus.

Such a shame! The illness count as a result of this incident is so high, and even just the one death so far is too many.

We buy the packaged spinach regularly, but haven't had any in the house for several weeks. I've always been a little iffy about packaged salad, and for all others I buy fresh, but the packaged spinach is so convenient. I'm not sure how I'll feel about buying it in future. DD (13) is not a breakfast food person, and she loves spinach and tomato salad in an oil anf vinegar....for breakfast!
