What would you pick for exterior colors?

The siding on this house, trim and roof will be changed but what color?  Siding is being changed under warranty and I am limited to Kaycans elegance, sierra, lewiston colors... which is basically lower end, lighter colors similar to most other companies.  What do you think would look good on this style of house/cottage?  The surrounding area is trees, lots of flowers in the summer, river view,no other houses adjacent.  The tall side of the house is the side you approach from the driveway, a little unsightly, any ideas as to how to improve the looks of this wall?  The place is a mess, trying to clean up for winter so disregard that.. thanks for your time and I excitedly await any feedback..ImageImageImageImageImageImage

Perhaps the roofs don't have to match just to make things easier.  I like the larger window on 2nd level, makes the house more inviting.   ImageImage

Thnks for doing that, it helps me a lot.  Do you think the porch should run right to the sloped roof or could it stop where the front sloped roof starts?  I was concerned about the blocking of light too and that was why I wanted to narrow the porch but I guess I don't have to narrow the back porch as much as the side ... I was having a hard time imagining the roof line where a narrower porch meets a wider porch ... in my mind it seemed easier if both were the same width??  Do you think the centered larger window is a better idea?  I appreciate your help and the second feedback on the color.

Hi mswalleye,  I think wrapping the porch around the front is a good idea, but don't need to be as deep as the other side since it will block the sunlight coming into your windows.Hers's a look at the rendering also with a larger window on 2nd storey. ImageImage

Hello mswalleye,

I also like the idea of grey. Or maybe even white siding with black shutters for a classic look?

Good luck!

Thanks for the ideas, I like the window but think I will go a bit wider so it is centered up above, right side being flush with bottom window right side.  I like the idea of narrowing up the porch but am thinking of wrapping it around basically cutting the tall wall in half??  Can you simulate that with the program dy?  Colors on my computer are not great so will need to look at the chips but see it is a light grey from Kaycan site.  I will check out the chips today.   Appreciate your input dy ... thought being an open slate it would generate a bit of feedback..

Hi mswalleye, I would suggest changing your siding to "Flagstone" color with dark grey roof and trims to update your house. If possible, adding a window to the 2nd level will balance the elevation when people approache your home as well.As for the entrance, I would shorten the front porch area so that it just covers your front door in order to open up the entry deck area.  Hope it gives you some idea for your house. ImageImage ImageImage
