Who do I need?

Who can I get to do this project for me? Or is it something I can do myself. I want to do wood panelling behind my plasma tv and console cabinet. It will look something like this (forgive the crudeness it was done spur of the moment). I want dark wood (stained) with stainless metal strips in between like you see in many retail stores nowadays.

Really like that Idea PaulD. It will look a little industrial which is sort of what I am going for. Thanks.

another possibility - how about using those flat metal threshold strips (flooring and tile section of your local big box reno)? available in various silvery metal finishes - they will be pre-drilled for screws, maybe try to find a screw that looks a bit more decorative than regular robertson or flathead (something like a "torx" head used in many car parts has an essentially hexagonal hole) and make it a feature...

Thanks for the suggestions. I will look this weekend at the hardware store for the metal. Hopfully I can find what I am looking for. :)

you could use the strips they use for suspended ceiling tiles and substitute the wood for the tiles.

If all else fails, you could call a metal shop and see if they would make a frame for you, or make a frame around the inserts which you provide. That would save you some of the expert costs if you could do the inserts yourself.

Another thing that just occurred to me is that you could fudge it. In auto supply shops (the big ones that deal with custom auto things) they sell all manner of self adhesive metal strips in various widths and finishes. They also have rounded, flat/shiny, and some other neat things that are used for detailing and I believe you can buy it by the yard/meter.

you can do this yourself. Those metal strips are available in the hardware store. You can use any pannelling or wood and stain it and set the strips yourself. Actually, I think there is a stripping material that they use for counter edges that even may be a type of plastic. Look around, I am sure if you are able to paint, you can stain and the lumber store will do your cuts if you give them the measurements. It looks like tiling with strips inbetween. I that right? If you know of a carpenter who could do rabbits for you, you could do this in horizontal or vertical sections and mount them to the wall with flushmount mirror clips.
