anyone have any ideas on how to keep a wisteria blooming. I've only once got mine to bloom twice in one season. Then it didn't do anything for two years...it finally is full again this year but some tips/tricks would be appreciated.

The wisteria are very hardy and pretty easy as far as training goes. You have to remember that they always flower on last years growth and you'll be fine when pruning. The problem with wisteria is that they can get out of hand and would easily lift the roof off my shed if I didn't keep up with new growth. They are beautiful however and in my opinion worth the effort! :)

How hardy is your wisteria? I'm considering getting a couple to cover a pergola on our patio. Do they spread quickly? Are they hard to train?

Wow I didn't realize that they would bloom 2x per year. Here on Vancouver Island they usually bloom 1x per year. They are in full bloom right now. I did a quick search on google and found lots of links. Sort of sounds like some cultivars don't bloom that frequently, wisteria grown from seed often don't bloom and the list goes on. Maybe U can asked someone at your local garden centre?

Sorry I coudn't be more help. Good luck!
