At New Years I usually go and get some fortune cookies with the paper fortune inside.
I place one at the table setting for each person if a sit down meal or if buffet party style I just place them in a bowl.
Our tradition is that each guests publically reads theirs BUT we add an extra phrase to the fortune:
'In bed'
ex:
You are an individual with great future aspirations .-.in bed."
You take the time, effort and go to great lengths in pleasing others. - in bed
:D
Thanks for all of the great suggestions!!! I have enough different ideas to put little "gifts" at both my Christmas Eve & day dinner place settings! Now I just have to decide. :)
Thanks.
I would also think those gliterry deco cylinder modern cones trees that I saw on another thread at the Bouclair store would look smashing on-at the table-settings.
Great post SamKing, I love using Christmas ornaments as both party favours and place cards.
Christmas ornaments. You may attach a name tag for seating indication should you wish. You may also personalize the choice for the individual.
You could decide on an angel theme or penguins ornaments. etc....
Such as the animal lover, the bird watcher, the sports person, the cook, car enthuisast, music lover, etc....
Choose the ornament that closely matches the guest.
Various key chains with the napkin placed in the key ring holder.
The ever popular noise paper cracker. (some make their own and fill them with candies and trinkets)
Little mini nutcrackers.
Or snowmen, santa clauses, elves....
foil wrapping bows tied around the napkins. (could be velvet or fabric trim etc...)
Lindt chocolates make some very nice fine foil wrapped truffles or chocolates shaped as bells, snowmen, santa or reindeers.
A beautiful glazed cookie wrapped in cello clear paper and tied with a ribbon or ornament..
Different cookie cutters holding the napkin.
Tiny crafted wreaths holding the napkins.
Gold foil chocolate coins symbolize wealth for the coming new year.
A little wrapped box containing a treat (chocolate, cookie or candy with a written holiday fortune or trivia question) that your guests can banter about at the table.
ex: Q: On the 5th day of Christmas my true love game me what?
A: F-I-V-E GOLDEN RINGS
or ask a question: Name your fondest gift received or memory
Which everyone takes a turn around the table opening their little gifted box.
A fresh flower or holly or evergreen on a place card or napkin.
A candy cane or different flavoured ones tied with a bow or name tag.
Crystal Christmas Ornaments or "Pinecone" candles (unlit of course ;) )
