DIY: Fringe Curtain Tiebacks
A beaded leather cord has unfussy, textural appeal, while dip-dyeing adds a hint of luxe to a simple cotton-twine tassel.
Materials
You’ll need twine, cardboard, liquid dye, leather cord, beads, fishing line.
Step 1: Form each tassel by wrapping white twine around a piece of cardboard. Slide the loop of twine off the cardboard.
Step 2: Tie another piece of twine around one end of the loop to hold strands together and provide an anchor for the fishing line.
Step 3: Cut opposite end of the loop of twine to form the tassel. Repeat steps 1 to 3 to make a second tassel.
Step 4: Dye the tassels by dipping the ends in liquid fabric dye and let drip-dry. Tie a length of dark brown cotton twine near the top of each tassel and tuck in the loose end to form a decorative band.
Step 5: String beads onto the ends of the leather cord. Before stringing the last bead, tie a length of fishing line around the cord just below the next-to-last bead, leaving end loose. Thread the final bead onto both the leather cord and the fishing line. Repeat on the other end of the cord.
Step 6: To attach tassels to cord, thread the fishing line end under the twine holding the bundled tassel together (from step 2). Thread the fishing line back up through the last bead and tie around the leather cord to secure. Repeat to attach the second tassel to the other end of the cord.
