Shops We Love: Spruce Collective

This charming West Coast shop showcases new products alongside revamped thrift-store and estate-sale finds. Owners Elisa Robertson, Jessica MacDonald, Kevi Zupancic, Monica Klein and Lily Ellis first met as vendors at local vintage markets. “People kept asking when we were going to open a store,” says Ellis. Encouraged, the quintet pooled their resources and opened Spruce Collective in historic downtown Abbotsford, B.C. last September.

Treasure hunters can scoop up vintage lockers, German Air Force suitcases, painted trays and glass doorknobs. Downstairs, Spruce’s side project, Trove Vintage Rentals, loans out furniture from yesteryear for events. The collective also hosts furniture-distressing, -painting and -upholstery workshops. “We want to inspire people to bring down dusty things from the attic and put them to new use,” says Ellis.
