Aerin Lauder's Entertaining Tips

Aerin Lauder's Entertaining Tips - House & Home

The New York style maven shares her party line.

We profiled Aerin for Interview in our December 2013 issue. She was full of great advice, so we asked her to share more of her tips for living with fabulous Park-Avenue style, and see a photo gallery of her favourite furnishings.

H&H: You have several beautiful pieces in your Aerin collection designed for entertaining.

AL: I love all our gold vessels. I think gold is a wonderful warm neutral, there is something very timeless about it that immediately creates a sense of luxury and warmth.

H&H: What’s your favourite hostess gift, to give or get?

AL: Candles are great for the holidays. We have a beautiful candle collection and we make these $75 wine stoppers that feel really substantial. There is a plain gold ball one which I think is the ultimate hostess gift.

H&H: Do you have a design philosophy or guiding principle when it comes to decorating for a party?

AL: The idea of luxury, simplicity, and a feminine approach. A bit of florals, soft colours and touches of that feminine element is such an important part of design and style.

H&H: What’s your idea of a great night out?

Dinner by the ocean, whether you are at a restaurant or at home. I think sitting by the water at night is truly paradise.

H&H: Do you have a favourite piece in your home?

AL: I love our George Nakashima coffee table, for me it symbolizes style and natural beauty. I got it for my husband for our tenth anniversary, and it’s now in our Colorado mountain house.
