Divide a room with different seating areas.

Former H&H style editor Michael Penney and his wife Sara decided to place their TV to the right, along the longest wall, and add plenty of seating for entertaining and movie nights. They bought the sofa from a friend for $100, used hand-me-down armchairs and found the drapes (a steal) at Ikea, so they dub this the "almost free" room. The coral sofa was the starting point for the colour scheme, and Michael picked up the blue by adding toss cushions, pottery and a striped rug. The walls were painted a soft, muted green. Read more about decorating their main floor.
