Art-Filled Dining Room

A bona fide Torontonian and historic-home buff kindles a passion for the contemporary in Calgary.

In Rebecca Eckler's dining room, designer Sally Healy counterbalanced the dramatic vertical emphasis of the narrow, two-storey space with the bold 36"-diameter Cattelani & Smith pendant lights and a strong horizontal plane created by the square ashwood tables. Chenille-covered benches and metallic-and-patent-vinyl chairs provide richness. The linear stripe detailing on the green-grey silk sheers is echoed in the fluted cherry console.
