Put white furniture in a bold blue bedroom for a soothing palette.
Q. I'm looking to create a very calm, serene bedroom. I would like to paint the walls a Caribbean sea blue. Can you recommend a nice one? I don’t like weak colours. The furniture is all white.
A. Blue is a colour that can definitely help create a soothing, tranquil room. White furniture contrasted with a bold, blue colour will add a fresh element to your scheme.
Ralph Lauren’s Portsmouth Bay (CO09A) is a soothing yet strong blue with a hint of grey that will create a lovely room when paired with white and wicker or tortoiseshell accents.
For a more sea-toned blue, try Benjamin Moore’s Tranquil Blue (2051-50). An oceanic green-blue, this colour will also look beautiful as a backdrop for your white furniture.
A helpful hint: When using a bolder colour, purchase a small quantity first and paint a test patch on your walls. Look at the colour in daylight and at night to make sure it gives you the desired effect.
