"We lightened things up on the cheap with a few gallons of cream paint, which gave the old paneling and brick fireplace a whole new look," says Sherry Petersik, co-author of the popular blog, Young House Love. "Then we replaced the faux-parquet linoleum with mocha hardwood that flowed with the rest of the house."
