What is the difference between H&H Magazine’s iPad App and the Zinio Digital Edition?
Our iPad App works on iPad only and includes redesigned interactive magazine content and bonus features. Our Zinio Digital Edition works across multiple computing and mobile devices and is a replica of H&H Magazine’s print edition including some interactive features.
Both products feature all of the content from the latest issues of House & Home Magazine, presented in beautiful colour and clarity. For more on the differences between these two products, please see below.
iPad App: H&H Magazine’s iPad App lets you enjoy monthly issues of H&H Magazine that have been fully enhanced for you to experience on your iPad. Current issues from October 2011 onwards feature bonus content such as exclusive slideshows and iPad-only video tours and interviews. Interactive features include fully redesigned content, rub-and-reveal games, navigation features, keyword searches and links to retailers and sources.
Zinio Digital Edition: H&H Magazine’s Zinio Digital Edition is powered by Zino, and is a replica of our print edition that can be viewed on your computer, iPhone, and some Android devices. Downloading the free Zinio App onto your mobile device lets you then download your issues to multiple devices and view them even if you are not online. Interactive features include pinch-and-zoom to enlarge the page, navigation features, keyword searches and links to retailers and sources.

How can I get the H&H Magazine iPad App?
You can download the free iPad App in iTunes or in the iPad App Store. Once you've downloaded it, you can then buy an annual subscription or individual issues of H&H Magazine from November 2010 onwards. Issues from October 2011 onward are fully redesigned exclusively for iPad, with extra content such as iPad-only videos, slideshows and fun interactive features.
What's the difference between the vertical and horizontal views of issues within the iPad App?
In the vertical interactive view, you'll see the designed-for-iPad pages, complete with iPad-exclusive videos and slideshows and other fun features. In the landscape view, you'll see the magazine pages with pinch-and-zoom functionality.
I upgraded my iPad. How do I get my subscription back?
If you have an iPad subscription, open the House & Home App and tap on the Subscribe button in the top left corner of the Library. Then, tap the option to restore your previous purchases. If you bought individual issues, they can be downloaded again at no cost. Simply follow the same steps described above, then tap the Download button next to the issues you'd like to view.
There's no sound when I try to play videos within issues on the H&H Magazine iPad App. What can I do?
Exit the H&H Magazine iPad App and go into your iPad settings. Select "General" from the column on the left. Under "Use Side Switch to", select "Mute." Then, toggle the Side Switch at the top right side of your iPad, next to the volume buttons, so that it's in the "On" position (no orange showing on the switch). Now, select "Lock Rotation" under "Use Side Switch to" and go back to the app.
Can I upgrade my magazine print subscription to an iPad App subscription?
Unfortunately at this time the print and Apple iPad subscriptions connot be combined and there is no way to upgrade your subscription. It's something we're working on. In the meantime, if you are looking to combine a print subscription with an electronic version of House & Home Magazine, it is possible to combine a print subscription with a subscription to H&H Magazine’s Zinio Digital Edition – powered by Zinio for $32.95.

I purchased an H&H Magazine iPad App subscription but no issues have shown up yet. What should I do?
Thank you for subscribing! As soon as you subscribe, you are entitled to the current issue of House & Home. Check the Newsstand icon on your iPad to see if it's there, or download it from the "Library" section of your House & Home App. If you still don't see it, you may need to go to the Library, exit the app, then reopen the app to update the Library. Contact isupport@hhmedia.com if you have further questions.
When I open the House & Home app, no issues appear for download. What should I do?
If you haven't done so since August 3rd, 2012, you need to update your app to the most current version. This can be done from the AppStore either by deleting your current app and installing a new copy (recommended), or simply updating to the new version. If you have a subscription or have previously purchased issues, when open the new app, you will need to tap the Subscribe button and select the option to restore your previous purchases.
Who should I contact about a billing problem with my H&H Magazine iPad App subscription?
H&H Magazine iPad App subscriptions are processed through iTunes/Apple, so Apple tracks the subscriptions and handles all billing enquiries and refunds. (This is the Apple/iPad business model, which we have to adhere to.) You can submit any iPad billing enquiries to Apple.com.
Why aren't H&H Magazine iPad App subscriptions free for print subscribers?
We completely redesign every issue of H&H Magazine for our iPad App and produce iPad-only extras such as videos, slideshows, interactive graphics and more. This requires substantial time and resources. Although not available at this time, we hope to introduce a combination subscription offer for H&H print + iPad App in 2013.
The new issue is on the newsstand — why isn't it on iPad yet?
Our small team completely redesigns each issue for our iPad App and produces iPad-only extras such as videos, slideshows, interactive graphics and more. This is why it takes about an extra week for issues to arrive on iTunes after our print magazine arrives on some Canadian newsstands. We hope you'll agree it's worth the wait!
We have more than one iPad in our house. How can I enjoy content from the H&H Magazine iPad App on both?
The only way you can receive the same product on multiple iPads is to log in on both iPads using the same iTunes user (Apple ID) as the original purchaser. (If you've lost your iTunes password, go to http://iforgot.apple.com.) Apple does not permit transferring purchases between two different apple IDs. You can log in and out of the App store on your iPad with multiple users by going to system preferences on the iPad > store > logout.
How can I give an iPad gift subscription?
Individuals have to buy their own iPad subscriptions using their own iTunes account/Apple ID. However, you can give them an iTunes gift card (available at most grocery and drug stores these days) and encourage them to download the App and buy a subscription.

Are electronic issues of Special Interest Publications (SIPs) such as Kitchens & Baths available?
Yes! Kitchens & Baths 2011 and Makeovers Fall 2011 are now available via the Magazines Canada Digital Newsstand, and future SIPs will be introduced to the Newsstand from time to time, so be sure to check the Newsstand for updates!
