Family Dining Room

A playful, functional space with flow.

The designers built a custom banquette to keep the dining space tucked out of the way of traffic flow. "This allows you to push the table much closer to the walls without sacrificing comfort. It also provides another storage component below - the perfect place to file bills, homework, craft supplies, tableware and linens," says Cindy Bleeks. "We always upholster or do loose seat cushions in durable, practical fabrics," she adds. In this space, laminated linen gives a look and feel that's natural but hard-wearing. Because the area is open to the rest of the main floor, woodsy purple wallpaper adds a bit of colour and pattern and helps to define the space.
