Bold colour, pattern and texture create a luxe nursery.
This nursery, designed by Patricia Halpin Interiors for the 2009 Junior League of Toronto Showhouse, is meant to be both 'soothing and stimulating.' The space offsets expanses of soft white with hits of fashionable fuchsia. Damask wallpaper is a striking backdrop for vintage furniture pieces, while the hanging bamboo chair is a playful modern alternative to a rocker. Tiny Barbie dresses, labelled, "Prada" and "Gucci," hang in Lucite shadowboxes.
Designer tip: Give flea market and garage sale finds a pretty new look with a fresh coat of paint and updated detailing, like the dresser's pretty crystal knobs here.
