This Graphic Kitchen Was Renovated In Just Six Weeks!
It’s hard to believe that this kitchen renovation was completed in less than two months. The goal? To create a kitchen in keeping with the rest of the home’s original architectural elements and fill it with unique materials and unexpected elements. “The juxtaposition of old and new allows spaces to feel interesting and layered,” says designer Ines Mazzotta.

Forget marble or quartz: Ines went all in with soapstone on this kitchen’s countertops and integrated sink. “The color was a perfect compliment to the dark cabinets,” says Ines.
The apron-front sink showcases a special bit of veining.
Ines loved this galvanized iron pendant the moment she saw it.
The homeowner is a keen cook, so the kitchen had to have hardworking appliances and room to display cookbooks.
“Behind these vintage doors is a modern pantry storage system,” says Ines. “We looked high and low for the right size and eventually came across an amazing Indonesian rosewood armoire for a steal on Kijiji.”
These inset shelves were stained to match the original wood trim in the adjacent dining room. The art is by one of Ines’ favourite photographers, who mixes Old Masters–style portraits with modern life. “Who doesn’t want a 17th-century Dutch girl eating a hamburger in their kitchen?” says Ines with a laugh.
