Indoor-Outdoor Family Space

Use low furniture to keep sightlines open.

Besides an urban loft look, the only thing husband-and-wife Yasmeen and Andrew Strang knew they wanted for their Vancouver house was a seamless indoor-outdoor transition. Enhancing the openness of the family room, a wall of glass bifold doors opens to a patio that leads to the swimming pool. "Those doors are open almost every day in the spring and summer," says Yasmeen.
