Kitchen With Contrast

White walls allow for more dramatic cabinetry.

"The bold stone hood, strong lines and play of light against dark anchors one end of a large great room in this country home," explains designer Melody Duron. The traditional recessed-panelled cabinetry has a deep charcoal finish that blends with the floors. The ceramic tiled backsplash complements the island's unusual soapstone countertop. The substantial range hood balances the grand fireplace with sits on the other side of the wall.
