Alan de la Vigne's Revamped Federal-Style House
Multiple windows with shutters and high mouldings add light and charm to this space.
"I've always loved a sow's ear," says homeowner Alan de la Vigne, and originally, this house fitted that description. Divided into three apartments and badly in need of repair, it took almost two years to turn the dilapidated mess into the gorgeous home it is today. By staying true to the structure's history (it was constructed in the 1830s), Alan restored the home to its formal glory, adding architectural details, elegant furniture and a covered two-story porch. This former apartment building is now a comfortable home, and a testament to refined elegance.
