Quirky Family Kitchen

Unusual pieces bring charm to a utilitarian room.

A gnome-shaped side table, ceramic deer ornament and reclaimed shoe factory shelving give Magela Bruno and Marcelo Palacios's kitchen plenty of personality, while classic white panelling and subdued blue walls balance out the look.

Fresh & Modern Basement

Graphic art and bold fabrics pop in a white space.

Design editor Sarah Hartill gave this family basement a lively, contemporary look using strategic hits of pattern and colour. In this corner, a black and white occasional chair has a sculptural look, while a vibrant canvas adds energy.

Simple Spring Display

An easy way to bring the outdoors in.

Pair a vase brimming with wildflowers with metal lantern for a fresh and outdoorsy vignette. To make the most of natural light, go with a glass-paned lantern and translucent vessel and place them in front of a large window.

Elegant & Organic Vignette

Usher in spring with a few natural accents.

A vase of shapely branches and a unique piece of coral bring texture and life to this handsome sitting area, without cluttering up the pretty gilded coffee table.

Breezy Pool House Bathroom

Vintage finds add warmth and character.

In Colleen DeCourcy's pool house bathroom, mellow brass hardware ties in well with a parchment-toned map of South America. "I'd like to re-create Che Guevara's crazy motorcycle trip," she says. A reclaimed pine table subs in as a vanity, while an antique chair is a storage spot for fresh towels.
