A multifunctional railing offers extra seating.
Homeowners Karyn Gordon and Brent Penner wanted to customize the small deck at their Lake Simcoe cottage. They built the extra-wide ledge in a weekend with some friends — it was as easy as that. It eliminates the need for side tables since you can pile drinks and snacks on it, and comes in handy as extra seating when they have large groups up in the summer. It's also low enough that it doesn't obstruct views of the lake.
