These delicious brandy-flavoured ribbon cookies with crème fraîche make an original dessert or holiday hand-out.
5 egg yolks
5 tsp brandy
5 tsp icing sugar (sifted)
5 tsp Crème Fraîche or sour cream
Pinch of salt
2-1/2 cups all-purpose flour (sifted)
Icing sugar for dusting
Step 1: Add first 4 ingredients, mix until it forms a smooth liquid (can use mixer as well as by hand).
Step 2: Add flour until it comes together like a soft pasta dough. Allow to rest for 2 hours at room temperature.
Step 3: Dust surface with flour and roll 1/8" to 1/16" thick.
Step 4: Cut with a ribbon cutter or with a knife cut into long strips (sharp egdes like squares are called flancotti).
Step 5: Bake at 350°F for 10-12 minutes until golden brown. Dust with icing sugar.
