A Chinese-inspired treat, these chicken burgers are spiced with hoisin sauce and fresh ginger.
200 g ground chicken
2 skinless, boneless chicken breasts (about 160 g each), chopped into 1/4” dice
2 tbsp finely chopped green onion
2 tbsp breadcrumbs
1 tbsp grated fresh ginger root
1 tbsp vegetable oil
2 tsp hoisin sauce
2 tsp minced garlic
2 tsp soy sauce
1/2 tsp white pepper
4 hamburger buns
Step 1: Mix all ingredients (except buns) well. Wet hands, then form into four 3/4" thick patties. Arrange between layers of wax paper or plastic wrap, cover and chill at least an hour before grilling. The patties will be soft, so be careful when transferring them to the barbecue. They will firm up as they cook.
Step 2: Grill on a greased grill on medium heat for 12-15 minutes, or until chicken is no longer pink. Sandwich between buns.
