Goat cheese adds an unexpected touch to a classic hamburger.
1-1/2 lb. lean ground beef
1 clove garlic, minced
1/2 small onion, finely chopped
1/2 tsp cumin
1 tbsp steak seasoning
1 tbsp olive oil
6 tbsp barbecue sauce
3 oz. spreadable goat cheese
8 strips cooked bacon
4 whole wheat or sesame buns
Step 1: Prepare an outdoor grill for high heat.
Step 2: In a medium bowl add meat, garlic, onion and cumin. Mix until just combined; Divide into four balls, and gently form into 1" thick patties. Sprinkle with steak seasoning and refrigerate for 1-2 hours.
Step 3: Lightly brush both sides of each patty with some oil and place on grill. Cook for 4-5 minutes on each side until cooked through. Brush 1/2 of the barbecue sauce on burgers and cook for 1 additional minute; flip burgers, spread with remaining sauce and cook for another 1 minute until sauce has carmelized. Remove from heat; spread with goat cheese and top with bacon. Serve on buns with your favourite toppings.
