
Brandy, garlic and whipping cream take this horseradish recipe from so-so to spectacular; perfect on steaks, sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs or wraps.
1/4 cup brandy
1 tbsp minced shallots
2 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp fresh thyme leaves
1-1/2 cups good-quality veal or beef stock
1/2 cup whipping cream
2 tbsp prepared horseradish (or to taste)
Black pepper
Step 1: Simmer brandy, shallots, garlic and thyme in small saucepan until almost dry. Caution: mixture may flame.
Step 2: Add stock and cream. Reduce by about 1/3. Stir in horseradish and pepper. Cover and keep warm. Drizzle over steak sandwiches.
Makes about 1-1/2 cups
