We went away with friends to the 1000 Islands for the long weekend....decided on Friday to pack and go....it was a gorgeous weekend and although I have been to the 1000 Islands for the 4th time, I must say I enjoyed it as if it were my first time.....we were lucky to find a very good motel because all the hotels were booked.
On our way back home we stopped in Kingston (first time there) and walked around a bit and came across antique dealers in the square, went for lunch and toured around by car and then stopped at Cobourg to visit relatives of our friends.....I never knew there was this really nice beach there, so we walked along the beach and then headed home......traffic was wonderful all the time....we came back very relaxed and ready to tackle some more work in our bath reno.

Well, as this thread is about the weekend getaway, I'll add my bit.
We spent the day at Port Delhousie, near Niagara. Nice long stretch of beach, felt like being at the sea. Quaint little shops and harbour. Went for lobster dinner afterwards, incl. the children...lobster for everyone. Kinda fun, even though I wanted calamari. :p
