I am redecorating these two rooms (the livingroom and kitchen) starting from scratch, so any and all things are welcome. The floor would be left alone and the fireplace (unless i get a good idea). Does anyone have any suggestions?
I finally got pictures ;) thanks to my son's BEST FRIEND.

I would replace the kitchen cabinets, backsplash and paint first and then work on the fireplace. If you could post pictures of the couch and chairs it would give us a better idea of the look that you are going for. As for the paint colour I would lean towards a lighter shade of apple green with the chocolate and the white...just make sure the green you pick isn't too minty. Painted kitchen cabinets are anthor option in a white or cream and similar coloured backsplash. Can't wait to see the transformation.
to answer blueberry, yes a very soft light green- like the color of the inside of a cucmber. i was thinking white for the trim and doors , but i suppose the fireplace would not look so great painted white? the floors are white also. then i have a chocolate brown leather couch and cream(2) chairsleather also, i dont know im getting so confussed!!!! i need to figure it out im going to start this project monday! thanks everyone kadida any more ideas i would love to hear them :)
Are you doing a soft green? If so then I think cream on the trim, doors and fireplace would look great. Very fresh.
Good luck...you have a big job ahead of you......enjoy the process.....it is fun watching the transformation....I always have inspiration pictures that help me get through each project...............
:) thanks for all the ideas, i guess ill get to work and start the demolition!!! evrything is coming out!!maybe for the closet door ill get 6 panel door .but would white paint be ok with the green walls and trim white too?then paint the brick cream on the fireplace? or different color. all of you are welcome to come and help me with the decorating you are all a great big help! thanks K :)
I would paint the fireplace a soft brown/beige colour but I think you might need to pick the wall colour first.. If you are doing teh walls green then maybe a cream would look better.
I think I would paint the doors and trim the same colour as the walls to make it all seem bigger. I know that dark brown or black doors are very popular right now but in your space I find the dark colour just chops up the wall.
I think a green would look very nice. I used BM Tea Light and you might look at that one.
no i will put in new cabinets maybe a lighter stained maple and the back splash will be removed too if i painted the fireplace which i love that idea what color should i paint it?
Is painting the kithchen cabinets an option? I was thinking Benjamin Moore Melamine paint in HC27 Monterey White. What type of material is on the backsplash? If it can be removed I would paint the walls and backsplash the same colour. A nice green is SICO 6144-53 Sempervivum, this will make the kitchen have a fresh look. Hope this helps........
Painting the brick of the fireplace would go a long way to giving the room a fresh and more modern look. It would also be a very inexpensive route. Having a boxed surround made to cover it would be another neat option, but a little more complex and pricey.
Here are some directions on how to paint a fireplace: http://tlc.discovery.com/fansites/tradingspaces/project/project_08.html
Hope this helps.
I would want to do the backsplash and cabinets in the colours that are very similar to each other with such a low ceiling you don't want it cut in half with a band of colour in between top and botttom cupboards. Also I think the ceiling should be the same colour as the walls.
the house has only 7ft. ceilings. and so far i bought a chocolate brown couch was thinking maybe green the color of an inside of a cucumber for wall colors.so that is as far as i got and all colors ,cabinets appliences anything ideas welcome!!!!!!! thank you kadida :)
