I was up at 5:00 a.m. this morning and posted the following. Obviously no one else was suffering from insomnia and so my question got overlooked. Mind if I post it again at this more reasonable hour of 10:00 p.m.??
I have a galley kitchen visible from the front hall, the dining room and the family room. We use the kitchen to get from the front hall to the family room which has medium brown coloured oak flooring,. The rest of the flooring in the house is honey coloured oak. (The F.R. is a recent addition and that is whey we used a different colour flooring - it has always been our intention to redo the colour of the original floors in the old part of the house.) I am now ready to refinish and match the colour of all my wood flooring to that of the F.R.. Here is my dilemna - I have been thinking of replacing the oak flooring in my (small) front hall with some sort of polished stone tiles in a natural tone and wonder if I should continue that flooring into the kitchen or whether I should just refinish the kitchen floor in that same medium brown colour. Oh, the kitchen cabinets are honey coloured maple. I am not sure how the darker brown oak will look against the honey maple cabinets. Any sage advice, anyone??
P.S. I have recently noticed that there is another person named "cmm". Please note the difference is that the other person uses quotes around their initials. To avoid confusion I am thinking of changing my name in the future!
