I liked the first one the best, the other ones seemed too traditional, stuffy and boring. Thanks for posting though, lots of interesting images.

Obviously not for me, call me crazy but the first thing I thought was how much it would cost to heat and cool those places. Neither were the Tiny Homes. I can't grasp the concept of living in something the size of a shed I guess :D

I liked the exterior of #1 and #5, but preferred the interior of #5 over all of them, because it seemed to be the most understated, or realistic.

They are beautiful homes, and it makes me wish my dh was a finish-carpenter so we could have some of those fabulous built-ins!!

To be honest - I hated all of them. I did see a few details that I liked, but mostly they were ostenatious and overdone. That's just my opinion. It was interesting to look at how the rich live, thanks but no thanks.

Actually I found more pleasure viewing the link to tiny houses.

Everyone seems to like #1 including me, the style of the house is fantastic too, if what I can remember there's a subdivision just south of Calgary, it's The Lake At Heritage Pointe, they have some very high priced homes there. They're building homes in that style now.

There are a few areas here where they have taken on that theme to one extent or another. A good example is how they did McKenzie Town in the south part of the city about 10 or 15 years ago. They designed the whole area to more resemble a small town, put exteriors on a lot of the homes that were more traditional looking with porches and such (the interiors were still your typical open concept stuff, but things like character trims do go into the higher priced homes). It was a winner with buyers from day 1 and since then a lot of developments are taking a similar approach in one way or another (while others still throw the garage out front and continue with the boring streetscapes).

I'm glad some of the builders brained up because to me it would be heaven to have a new house built the way the old ones were (in looks and detail) so it's nice to see it coming into it's own.

I also enjoyed reading the different comments from the posters at the end.

Some thoughts on the decor choices or finding the homes excessive in many ways.

Thanks for sharing. :)

I liked the first one best too. What was nice to see is them building new with the detail usually found in old. I noticed one of them was 8000 sq ft...that's a big house. Of course anyone who could afford those houses probably can afford someone to help clean them and find the occupants when they are lost.

Just wanted to add that it is now about an hour later and still haven't been through the entire site. I am finding it really interesting. thanks for posting it.
