well this project has been put on hold...he refuses to clean his room and wants me to ''redo'' his room...so until he cleans it up and makes it decent looking and not like Taz has just tore thru this room...then i'll ''redo'' his room...until then he will have to live with monster truck border, buzz lightyear blue walls and mismatched bedding...here's hoping he's sees some type of bedding he likes or style ''theme'' for his room...then maybe he'll try a lil harder...until then...it's a no go...and he won't let me clean it...cuz he knows i just throw everything out... :D

My son is 4. He has a denim comforter, denim curtains, and a gorgeous throw quilt and pillow in red and blue. His bed and bookcase are medium/darkish wood, and his walls are BM Crown Point Sand.

We are still in the process of doing his room, so I'm on the hunt for more stuff in red and blue: I would like a nice area rug like the ones that Pottery Barn sells in red and blue, but I have yet to find a knockoff. I would also like some wood frames and some artwork. I love the vintage sport and transportation posters at allposters.com.

I have a 7 year old and eight year old boy and one room is done with denim duvet cover and reddish and taupe accents and the other room (my favorite) is done in red and white ticking for the duvet, with a coordinating fabric on the reverse in a check, piping on the edges, shames. The windows used the matching toile with little boys in the print. I love it and it is not a "theme" and they decorate around it. We built a shelf that runs all the way across the wall above his bed and he puts his hockey treasures etc. there. The walls are a light taupe. The boys can grow with this look as it is ageless.

i really like the 3rd pic of the bedding...the black and gray i believe it is...but i have to keep in mind that the dog LOVES to sleep with him...and even enjoys sleeping on the bed when he's not there...the lil weasel...lol...i will look at the bedding first...

Jeep...the hockey thing was my idea...lol...and as much as he loves hockey...he doesn't want it...ohmygawwwd...broke my heart...lol...besides it would be a TML themed room...kinda obvious...huh?...

My boys were so hockey crazy that their rooms were hockey hockey hockey. There was never a question what they wanted. I still have the curtains and bedspreads with all the teams on them. One son keeps telling his wife that he is going to hang them in the kitchen in his house. They are so old they have the Winnipeg Jets and Colorado Rockies. I would pick a theme in the bedding and curtains and paint from that then if he tires of it, it only means new linen and it will probably need changing by then anyways. Posters and pictures in place of borders much easier to change.

for a young lad's room. Not fussy on the camo - I hate war things.

here are some examples of the nautica range.

You should start at choosing the duvet cover. You don't need to follow a theme. Nautica has beautiful duvets in navy blue, with cream and khaki stripes, and button finishes. I'll try find a pic. There are other combinations and colours too. At the Bay or Home Outfitters.

Then match the sheets and drapes with the duvet and select a colour for the walls from there.

But you know all this...

happy shopping!

For my 4 yr old son, I found dark red drapes at Covers, and bought an extra pair in the khaki colour, and sewed the stripes on the bottom myself, to look like the nautica, but worked out cheaper. I added lining too.
The bedding is a plain khaki comforter, with a red pillow. I painted the walls a light BM Carrington Beige. He loves his room and finds it restful but still a little exciting with the red accessories.

hey, I don't mind, ask away, it gives me something to do too! keeps my mind off the 'back to school' nerves and my parents coming to visit at the same time! And is my house ready enough!!?

What do you think of the camo?

I saw this in the Sears WishBook. I think it is a nice way to do camo without too much of the war feeling.

Don't you have a fireplace and ensuite to do first?! :D
