Has anyone else had enough of the constant coverage of the horrific event ? I do not need reminding as I am sure many of the surviving families do not need the reminder. Enough already. Yes it was horrid, yes I will never forget the media images and yes it is time to look after the surviving families, but not this way. Comments ???

DS#1 was living in CT at the time and was away and we knew he was flying home that day. DH got a call to turn on the TV and we were freaking out for about 3 hours until we were able to get in touch with him. He landed at LaGuardia about 2 hours before it happened and had a friend on the second plane. They were together at a recuiting camp all weekend and DS flew back to NY and his friend flew to Boston then was on his way to LA. He also had several friends working in the Trade Center so 9/11 so always a scary time for us.

but on a positive note...

We used to own a condo in New Orleans in the Warehouse District, just west of the French Quarter. It was old cotton warehouses converted into beautiful units, we loved it, but eventually sold because we were too busy to get down there enough times to use it...how I loved that city and I pray for its recovery...

Anyway, there was a girl, twenty-ish, who lived in our same building, the Federal Fiber Mills, and she was forced to abandon her cat. No one knew when people would be allowed to come back or even if there would be anything to come back to. Therefore, pets could not be left in the units, but they could not be taken by the evacuation personnel. So this girl turned her cat loose and hoped for the best. Weeks later, she was allowed to come back, and no sign of him. Fortunately, the building itself and the surrounding area were hardly affected by the flooding. She posted all kinds of inquiries, but no word, until she heard about a woman in Tennessee, I think it was, who had taken many of the dogs that were abandoned during Katrina. She contacted this woman and described her cat, who happened to have a distinctive mark on his chest. Lo and behold, the woman had him and he was safe and sound. She was coming back to New Orleans to bring back some dogs and she brought back the cat at the same time. The girl was so grateful -- she put pictures up on the internet right away. here's the neat thing -- the cat's name was Lazarus. I guess he used up a life or two that time around...

All this rehasing of events is enough; it happened; stop constantly reminding the world about it. Where were all these concerned and caring government officials when Katrina hit New Orleans and people went days without food or water? I recently read about a woman still mourning the beloved pet she was forced abandon. How about all the soldiers killed in Afghanistan and Iraq since 9/ll: how much do we know about them? It almost seems as though these events are nothing more than a photo opportunity for politicians. Interesting, that it took days to do anything for the people stranded in New Orleans, but, when Boston area flooded, (would-be-presidential candidate) Gov. Mitt Romney leaped into action getting aid and evacuating nursing homes etc.

I lived in the States at the time of 9 - 11. Being a Canadian in a country that was not my own at that time was terrifying to say the least ( all of we Canadians there at that time were ready to run for the hills). We lived in fear for quite some time. We didn't know when and if the next attack was coming. Everything was a target ie.malls, schools, trains, planes, buildings. They are still targets.

The US believes in ceremony, patriotism, pagentry, world event anniversaries etc. so to me the coverage yesterday was no surprise. They will probably do this again on the 10th anniversary etc,

I watched some coverage yesterday especially the 2 day ABC "Path to 9 -11". It was very informative and answered alot of questions.

Fingers are crossed that Canada never has to experience a horrific event such as this.

I feel like you do and so well said, as usual. Politics ....politics. I I agree they need a remembrance but not all day on most channels. The toddlers and babies born around that tragic day would be old enough to understand some of the media coverage. It is not fair to the surviving families who no doubt are still trying to make sense of their losses let alone get along financially. I have read, (if you can believe what you read) , that some have still not received compensation for their families.

Well I wonder how much of this we would be seeing if there wasn't a certain President still trying to convince people he was justified in invading and starting a war. As long as they can keep the terrorism fear alive and well, the less resistance they have to some of their actions.

Given the recent turn to hearing more about rationale for pulling out of Iraq and the loses they've had there, this will just serve to quiet that down with some folks. I'm sure the airlines and security services that have made some significant changes need renewed fear instilled in the public...instead of some feeling of being as on top of it as possible.

I guess it just seems unusual for the US to keep dwelling on the disaster, death, hurt, when typcially they pull the 'look how well we are doing and we can get over anything' attitude. With this it's over and over again of the horror and loss vs the recovery just when they need people backing their President's actions. A little too convenient to me.

For the most part, a lot of it seems a way to make a buck for someone. I didn't watch any of it since none of it seemed to be in memorial as much as it was recreating of the horror.

When the planes flew into the WTC, I was sitting in the living room making some final wedding preparations. When we woke up on the morning of our wedding three days later, the first thing we heard on the radio was that September 14th had been declared a National Day of Mourning. Our MC was living in Germany and had no way to fly back to Canada for our wedding. My brother and his wife had to make a 10-hour drive from Pittsburgh to be at our wedding because their flight was cancelled.

We certainly weren't affected by 9/11 to the extent that so many people were, but still..... I'll always associate our wedding day with it. Which isn't a particularly happy memory. Although --not to brag -- our wedding rocked!! And so many people told us how nice it was to be able to celebrate and have fun at such a sad time. So lots of good memories too.

That being said -- yes, I've had more than enough of seeing the coverage over and over. Not that I think it should be forgotten -- but let people deal with it in their own way, and don't keep replaying those sad, tragic images over and over.

Every time the news came on today, I would change the channel. I have seen the images so many times, and I didn't want my daughter to see those images, normaly if she sees something bad on TV I can just explain to her that its pretend, and this time I can't tell her that it is, how do you explain to a 6 year old that someone wanted to blow up a building to hurt people for no good reason. I wish they would stop showing it.
