now if you do not feel comfortable about this, totally understandble...i call it getting to know each other...but on a less personal level of course....and i think its good for newcomers as well
As for me, im 42, married, 3 girls ages 11,12 and 14...i live in ontario...of course like many here decorating is one of my passions, but hobby for a few years has been doing decorative painting or what some might prefer to as tole painting...but im due for a change in hobbies, not sure what yet. I enjoy the time i spend with my family and friends....i do not work at this point in my life due to disability but someday i hope for a return to the work world. I live by a quote....Hold onto hope as its one thing no one can take from you

and I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that walked away from my newborn...LOL...the kidlet was about 10 days old and we were out for our first big walk. I had to go into the post office and left her in the pram with the dog tied up to it outside. I finished my business in the PO and started my episotomy waddle home, only to get half way home and suddenly realizing that a) something was missing as b) I could see my feet. I waddled back to the PO only to see the dog looking at me as if to say.. "some mother you are.. what would you do without me.. sigh" Fast forward 2.5 years to same kidlet now a talkative and very opiniated toddler...we were at a reception for Prince Phillip and he was doing his rounds of handshaking and small talk with the groups and hubby, myself and kidlet were next in line. Prince Phillip sees the kidlet and comments that he too, has a grandaughter her age with a similar name and holds his hands out to take the kidlet. The kidlet promptly starts yelling.. "NOOOO...big nose ...big nose.. ugly.. ugly.. ugly.. " and slides down and runs away and hides under a table, all the while yelling big nose... big nose.. Both hubby and I have now turned 20 shades of red..bobbing up and down with a stream of apologies... his commanding officer is mortified, the dignitaries are stunned into silence and Prince Philllip says.. "funny my granddaughter says the same thing"...hubby spent the rest of the reception under the table with said kidlet trying to convince her to come out....to this day I don't believe she was that stubborn, he was just looking for a way to hide out until it was over....LOL

When my youngest was about 5 he used to like to stand on the end of the grocery cart while I pushed. One time while selecting some fruit I turned and plunked my apples into the cart he was standing on and continued shopping. A couple minutes later this lady approaches, "excuse me, you have my cart". Funny I didn't even look at what was in there......

im sure some others have some funny stories to share and i think that is what we need right now....i remember when i was 17 and was shopping around downtown...mom worked at the bank and her car was parked out front..i told her i would wait in the car for her...opened the door, threw my bags to the back, made myself comfy..decided to be nosey and read stuff from the glove box...the next thing i know this family is entering the car and asking me what are you doing? lol you guessed it, i was in the wrong car.... after trying to convince them they had the wrong car, i came to find out moms was in the parking garage....i will never forget that...however we still laugh about it now lol

Janet, this is always a good thread! :-)

I'm 41, have two children, and we are in the process of adopting. I have my own small(ish) Interior decorating business which is growing like mad, and as well, it is my passion. I'm a fabric junkie! :-) I sew quite a bit, too, but am still learning the more complex window treatments, but it's been great learning.

I am married to a great guy who teaches grade 12 physics and advanced calc.

My son, 22, is a photographer, whose work is going to be showcased in a new magazine here locally in about 2 weeks. I'm very proud of him. He's worked very hard for this.

My daughter, who I only reunited with 2 years ago (she was placed for adoption at birth), is now living here, and working as a model for a local talent agency. She was doing the education program in Georgia but chose instead to transfer here but later decided teaching is not for her :-(

We have a dog (black lab, samoyed cross), and 2 cats. I'm also itching to get into the garden... but the weather here has been slow to warm up.
