i was wondering how difficult it would be to sew a band of fabric to ready-made drapes from home depot, for example? they seem to be a good option for me as the drapes are lined and fairly inexpensive.
does anyone have any instructions on how to do it? :) i have no sewing experience other than home ec that was, oh, 13 years ago. hehe :)

I asked a similar question my very first post here and got lots of tips and ideas for how to add bands to curtains. Read through this thread and see if it helps.

I did that with a shower curtain -- I added a band of fabric to the middle of it.
I really don't know what I'm doing with a sewing machine, but it was quite easy to do. I don't think I could write you proper directions -- but basically, I just cut the curtain in half, pinned the piece of fabric to both sides, and sewed it all together!! Hmmmmm.... I might have sewed up the edges of the piece of fabric first..... I can't quite remember.
Anyway, it's definitely do-able and very easy :)
oh gosh there was a post at one time about doing that exact thing...i wish i could recall who it was........sorry but im sure someone else here could help you out
