ok, so I got my lazy butt off this computer, and signed up for a cardio class, once a week. Also a Pilates.

So I have just come back from a gruelling workout, and I am beat. It was fun and I enjoyed it.
Now I'm sitting here, and my hands are shaking. I also didn't eat breakfast or have coffee before. The class is early and I had to get kids ready for school too.

Any advice on preventing the 'crash' after a workout?

Should I eat my cereal before (it might be 10 minutes before I leave though), or drink the coffee? I also forgot my water! duh.

Please tell me your tips so I can get through the day!! ouch :D

congrats on getting up so early!
I am not a morning person. My workouts are at 7pm. Gives me enough time to eat a small amount before going to the gym. Like others suggested, try eating some trail mix before going. Trial & error will tell you if it works.

If you know you are going to work out make sure you are not hungry and don't have an empty stomach or you won't have the reserves to use for the energy you need. Probably best if you can eat some fruit or whatever at least an hour before (juice if you have no time but it's really pure sugar). What you don't want to be doing is trying to digest something when working out.

Why not ask the instructor or whoever is around what they suggest?

I take a banana for the ride home and only drink water. I to am up really early for my new work out starts at 5:15am, I will have some raisins on the way just to have something in my stomach. I started Kettle Bell 3 days a week and then i walk the dog when I am done . I am a bit wobbly walking the dog but it goes away and then the chills set in. THis will also go away once you get used to them.

I also liked to take a banana with me to eat on the way home. Leave the coffee alone and don't forget your water.

Eat something small before you go to class -- half a cereal bar, a small piece of fruit, a few nuts, small handful of trail mix, a yoghurt.... then have a good breakfast when you get home. Ideally, you shouldn't eat for an hour before you exercise, but your body needs a bit of a boost to get it going first thing in the morning.

If you drink something before you go to class, make it water, not coffee.
