Ok so the dumb landlord told me that the construction in the apt above me would be done last week, well I went up there today and they are no where near done.... They still have to put the kitchen in and refinish the floors, and do a bunch of other stuff. They are so loud and noisy from about 8AM to 6PM and now they are painting.... priming to be exact... and the fumes are coming down in to my apartment, and i am having an allergic reaction to the "paint" now I have never ever had an issue with paint before, but I have had issues with industrial strength adhesives I get itchy all over and i get HIVES... now If I get hives I am going to be a very very unhappy girl... I am pretty sure they are lying about what they are using up there... I have already complained to the landlord once about this and he doesn't seem to care that its driving me nuts.
Sorry just needed to vent.... :hairpull: :hairpull: :hairpull: :hurl:

May I suggest that you use some headphones with some wonderful relaxing music and lose yourself in your work. I know that doesn't help with the fumes, but finding a solution while they are doing work will help you more than complaining. Is there somewhere else you could take your work - to a library, for instance? Just a thought.
Thanks Janetc... I cant stand loud noise, at all. I go crazy in my last place being up so high the wind would whip around my windows and it was so loud it sounded like a jet outside of my windows, sometimes it would go on for days. It really drove me crazy. Oh of the things i liked about this place was it SEEMED queiet... YA RIGHT there is always noise here, the leaf blower outside, the construction upstiars, the lawn mowers, oh and the kids at the neighbours house.. OMG if I had kids like that I would rip my hair out. They have a really large roof top tarace that the kids play on, the children SCREAM all day and in to the night... you think with all the money they have they could hire someone to teach their kids how to behaive. ( I know i shouldnt assume that they have money, but the house next to them is listed for 8.9 million so I am guessing that if they can afford to own a house here that they have some money.) LOL
i cant even imagine listening to that and the dust and fumes on top...ick! somedays i cant stand listening to a lawnmower running, that would drive me batty. I sure hope it gets better for you. :)
smiles

Ok so I just need to vent.. They are still banging around up there and now for some reason they are even working today (SAT) normaly they don't work on weekends. I am so fed up with this, the landlord said they would be done in a week, well that was 2 weeks ago. I am sick of this. :hairpull: :hairpull: :hairpull:
condogirl...
reno might be right...the dust and chemicals may be affecting your allergies.....I know that with packing this week...the basement dust is getting to me.....I have been really bad this week...can't sleep at night because I am waking up to constantly blow my nose....you should see the pile on kleenex beside my bed........ :hurl: .........and the sneezing is non-stop............hope you feel better soon and the construction stops ...................
went to bed last night, immediately after that post, I seemed to remember you had allergies and / or a head cold this week, and wondered if it could be related.
I know you wrk from home, and suggested the walk as a way to get away from it for a bit during the day - even if you do your groceries during the day and work an hour or two after DD is in bed . . I too work from home, so I understand how the schedule can sometimes be juggled a little
I would but I have been sick all week and I work from home... So I have been stuck in the house... I am hopping they will be done soon, its really starting to drive me nut...
and you thought you were going to enjoy the quiet of you DD being at school ! can't you go out some part of the day, just to get some fresh air and "noise" break ??
Don't you hate that awful noise and paint smell! I sympathize with you because I can't stand the smell of paint either........If I were you, I would try and get a compensation for the aggravation...it doesn't hurt to try........
