We moved into our new house 3 weeks ago, and took time off to work on it as a big project. Not completely done, but here are some results.

Thanks obella,
An area rug is definitely in the plans, we are looking around for something that we like, A long credenza type unit has been suggested to me for beneath the windows along that wall, but it would have to stop half way under the side windows. There are vents on both sides right under and I can't cover those up. I'll have to mock something up to get a better idea of how it would look. Thanks for the suggestions.

wow, beautiful soaring windows...
I really like the idea of a very long, low unit that would go all along under your windows...you could put a cushions on it, your large plants...whatever.
I couldn't really find a picture of what I mean..but this will give you an idea...though like I said, all along the wall...in black for instance,
you could still have your TV in the same place,
and I like the idea of an area rug in there...
really nice job.
Just finished the frame on Saturday and was able to mount it on Sunday. Not sure if it's too large for the space, the wife really likes it.

We also got that fixture at Sescolite ( the one off Hwy. 7) and I know the one off Lawrence had one in stock a few months back.
Great job so far!
The wall sconces in your great room are different. I like how they give the room a sort of exotic, night-clubby feel.
Nice looking kitchen.
Your new house is looking great. Can I ask where you got the light above your dinning room table. TIA
Your house looks lovely....you should give some thought to using a deep oxblood red....it would look fab with your furniture....i think all rooms should have that splash of black...good luck cathie
OK, I admit, I'm biased -- but I love the idea of a red accent wall!! I think it looks really good in the mock-up. Don't be intimidated by red -- it's such a warm colour, and I found it added a real brightness & drama to not only our family room, but our entire house.
Check out BM Raspberry Truffle. There are some nice C2 reds. Ralph Lauren also has some nice reds -- but I have a friend who used a RL red in his dining room, and he did 2 coats of tinted primer and 5 coats of paint, and the walls still look splotchy.
Your house looks really nice, by the way :)
LOL..I just realized there's another part of the wallon the right that I left out...oh well..you get the picture.
:D Mel
OK...I am no mock-up guru..but I grabbed one of the colours outta your table runners and put it on the wall..just for kicks. I was a little bored.
:) Mel
would look very nice....post this on Decorating and Design along with your picture and if you cant do a mock up, someone will for you....smoodgie and jenjen did a red accent wall, they could even share thier pics with you

I would have to agree with you, "it's just paint"
I have painted and repainted myself many times to get the right mood
Chances are you will love the drama it adds.
Thanks for the lighting source.
O
I was going to try a Photoshop version to see how it would look, but it might scare me into not going for it. I figured it's just paint, I can always change it.
I got most of my light fixtures at Sescolite, the one in the breakfast area is this one (link from Universal lighting) click here
The backsplash tiles are called irredescent glass mosaic. During the day they have a glossy rainbow effect, but at night they look shiny charcoal in colour.
Great job!!!!!
and great lighting fixtures.......can you tell me where you got the hanging one in your breakfast area?
possible to show a close-up pic? is that glass mosiac backsplash?
Congratulations on your new place.....
I like the idea of color in that room...red is a difficult one to choose...
maybe you should put that question and picture in the decorating and design forum and someone can do a mockup of a red wall for you
Thank you for the compliments. I am thinking of doing a red accent wall in the dining room (picture below) but I'm not sure I can have that much punch in the rest of the house.

We still have builder's paint on the walls, and don't plan on changing it until the end of the summer, but if anyone has some cool ideas, let me know.
