Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has any ideas for some shade loving annuals for my front garden. Its just a small bed next to my front door, but I can't really find any annuals besidees impatiens to put there. Any other suggestions? Or am I destined for a 2X6 patch of impatiens?

 Mel

Begonias love the shade and have beautiful big bright flowers. Some have double flowers that I had and they looked like roses really pretty and showy.

Haha Flowerpot...thanks for the laugh so very early in the day!

Thing is Ladies, I had tons and tons and tons of perenials in Newfoundland, but now that I'm renting, I'm thinking a little less permanently. Altho....we may be here for a couple of years, so I guess I can use one or two. I actually quite LOVE hostas....ok fine, I'm gonna use some perenials as well. I may dig them up tho when I move...LMAO!!!

Hostas do very well in ashade garden. You can now get all different types now with beautiful leaves in colours of greens and blues etc. oh damn just realized you wanted annuals.

I like the suggestion for a perennial in the back and impatients in the front -maybe a shade loving grass about 1'-2' tall. Just my two cents but.... please only plant one colour- white is my first choice. It is a subtler look with all one colour and really a more contemporary look as well.

What about a perennial or two at the back of the bed instead? And then just a border of impatiens for colour? There are a lot of perennials to choose from that take part or full shade.

Try looking here http://www.provenwinners.com/plants/default.cfm?searchDuration=Annual&doSearch=1&searchLightCodeType=Shade&page=1

the first few pages are impatients, but there are other things you can plant if you keep going.
