I don't want to hijack Born2Shop's thread about painting her doors black, so here's another thread about black doors so I can get opinions on painting my doors black.
We're repainting the hallway -- probably BM Yorkshire Tan. I'm debating whether or not to paint the trim in the hallway Cloud White. It's currently pure white, so my other option is to freshen it up with a coat of Ultra White. If I go with Cloud White, it'll be obvious that the doors are a different white when they're closed and surrounded by the CW trim. Which is why I'm thinking of painting the doors black. Or actually, more likely a really really dark brown, like BM Black Bean Soup.
To answer the questions from DBD and Wolfbaby on the other thread:
[*]I'm going more for dramatic than light & bright. I prefer deeper, richer colours.
[*]The bathroom door at the end of the hallway is usually open. The other doors are usually closed to keep the pooches & cat out of them when we aren't home.
[*]I'm posting another sketch of the hallway with labels showing what rooms are behind the doors and what colour each room is. I think all the rooms colours would work with a black door.
[*]I've also heard that every room needs a touch of black :)
[*]There really isn't much wall space at that end of the hallway to add wall sconces. Plus it would be a bit of a job to install sconces. However, I love the idea of hanging photos gallery-style on the long wall and using picture lights :)
[*]Unfortunately, I don't know a good electrician :(
Looking at that end of the hallway in real life, it might not be too overwhelming if all the doors are painted black because you don't see all 5 doors in the same sight line.
One more black door question -- if the door to the master bedroom is black, do the closet door & ensuite door in the MB need to be black too?? And if yes, then I guess the closet door in the ensuite should also be black?? Sorry, that was two more questions ;)
