Blast--I just lost my post! Here I try again. :)
Is there something about primer/sealer I should know?
I bought a gallon to cover a 10x13 room with sloped ceilings, a good sized window and two doors. I wanted to do two coats.
I'm about 3/4's done the first coat and there's less than 1/4 of the can of paint left!
I was probably using the wrong roller--it took about eight passes over the smae spot to get it covered (yes, I counted!) and then because I was applying preassure--I made squirt marks--when I rolled over them to smooth them out--I took paint OFF the wall.
I'm painting what was originally a plaster and lathe wall (with many layers of paint!) --
It's only 22 degrees here today--though it feels warmer in this second story room--
WHAT AM I DOING WRONG?????!!!

I am in southrn Ontario...............extremely HOT thi summer with very little rain!
Luck for a pool there is some relief.......bring on FALL.
Good luck with your room.............what colour are you painting it?
Inglewood.
Ugh! 30 degrees- not for me! Where are you?
I called the paint store--apparently sloped ceilings are 10 to 30 % MORE square fottage than ordinary rooms. And he told me that one coat should be sufficient: -so I guess I'll go get another quart--and MORE wall colour (grrrr.)
Is it an older home? With many layers over plaster, you may need to check if it was painted in oil at any time. Older homes tend to have oil paint at one time on the walls.
If you have painted the room before with latex and never experienced a problem than you should be okay.
With primer, you don't need to go too thick. It will cover well enough with 2 coats.
ps it is still HOT here - 30c
