i'm not sure if you all heard about the latest telephone scam...but i found out about it yesterday when all 3 of our cellphones rang one right after the other all within about 10 mins...basically it is an ''autodialer'' that is calling people mostly cell phones...and when you answer it you will hear a voice telling you that ''you and your family have won a trip to Florida for $99US'' it then tells you to press ''9'' you are then directed to a live opeator who gives you a whole speach...i didn't answer any of our phones cuz no one has the numbers and i did not recognize the #...i went online and msn searched the phone #...and you wouldn't believe the amount of people that have recieved these calls...basically if you do press ''9'' what happens is that they are then able to access you phone line and use it to make long distance calls and you get the charges...just thought i would let everyone here know about it...the # that calls you is 214-279-0990...so if you get a call from this #...don't answer it...it is a Texas based #....just thought i would share with y'all

They called the cell phone, and later the same day our house phone. Dh works for the phone company so he'd already warned me that morning...
I always hang up on telemarketers when it's a recording anyway.
for the heads-up - my parents winter in Texas, so it would not look too odd for us to get a phone call from there, I will warn the family !
happened at our local hospital and they got stung!! Dont know how much the bills were for, but a couple of hundred!

i blew me away how all 3 of our cell phones got called within 10 minutes of eachother...first mine the my DH's that we have on the same plan...then his work cell...which a completely different plan..nothing to do with ours...i hope they figure out who these people are and hang the by *****
same number...and they have left mesages on my cell voicemail. ...grrr. I hate scammers
the RCMP is aware of this scam and are apparently keeping an eye on this #...
