I think most of you know dh and I are seperated, we have sold our house and the closing is next Friday. Neither of us are living in a place we can have our cats but both of us still want them. But if I could find them a good permanent home I would give them away because I only want them to be happy. :) We have no family or friends that can take them on a temp basis either.
I have placed an add in the classifeids yesterday but have had no reaponse as of yet. If nobody response does anyone have any ideas what I can do with them? I would be willing to pay someone for temp care. I am so worried about my kitties future!

Speak with the administrator at the nursing home. They have final say.

Word of mouth gets around. Don't hesitate to bring it up with cashiers at the drugstore, the grocery store, etc. Take advantage of noticeboards in public buildings, too. Often you'll find one at the community center, the library, and sometimes even in stores. If this is possible, include a colour picture to get attention to your notice.

Good luck.

You can place an ad at the petsmart as well, if you have one in your area. Good luck in finding a good home for them.

I don't see why you can't just call up a few nursing homes and ask to speak with.... hmmm, who WOULD you speak with.... maybe the social director or the manager?? If you don't get a positive reaction from the first place that you call, don't be discouraged -- some people just may not be into animals or may not realize the benefits of having a pet around.

Smoodgie, I know they would love that. Do you think I should just start calling around to nursing homes asking if they want them or how do I go about this?

monday, sorry to hear about you and your dh. It is a crappy situation, if you move to Regina you could take my cats what apartment wouldn't take two cats? :P If you need to chat Pm me anytime. I mean it! I hope everything works our for your kitties. I would have no problem leaving my cats with dh, idiot or not if he was in a situation to take them.

I can relate to your situation. The hubby & are are preparing to separate and we have 8 cats. I'm planning on moving from NS back to TO or Regina to be closer to my family. Dragging my kitties half way across the country wouldn't be good for them, especially when they can stay with the idiot hubby on a 5 acre lot and hope he remembers to feed them. If I take 4, what apartment will let you take that many cats?

I had posted an ad at the local vet when I caught a feral kitten. I got a call about a week later. If they are at the vet I would assume the person is prepared to take care of a pet.

Ooh, I have an idea -- if your cats are good with people, maybe you could see if a nursing home in your area would like to adopt one or both of them. The nursing home where my grandma is has had a resident cat for the last year or so. He has free run of the building, and pops into people's rooms to visit them. I think it's a great thing for both the cat, who always has company and gets lots of attention, and the residents, especially the ones who don't have a lot of visitors.

What do you think??
