husband took the computer so its been awhile since Ive been online... Got flats of grasses,bunny-tails, pampas, cat (I have five indoor cats) and herbs and a variety of lettuces, tiny types of tomatoes (that is the only kind worthwhile in this neck of the woods),some water plant seeds I collected, and a kind of chinese lantern plant with blue flowers. All under gro-lights for now.
Til last week it was warm enough to be outside, even in the snow.
Now its close to 20 below each morning! indoor gardening only!
The elk and deer are starting to come around -they generally help with pruning!

and you sound like another great source for my cottage garden....
What are you doing indoors to lend to this theme?

The gardening season never left. I potted up my calla lilly last fall and put them in my laundry room. I gave them a drink wheneve the soil was dry to the touch and low and behold they started growing in December.

I have eight of ten pots growing, one has a pale purple flower that i moved into my kitchen window, so its the first thing i see when i go down in the morning. This particular plant was bright purple in my sister's garden and i rescured it as she had no intention of digging it up for the winter. I hope the bright purple flower will come back once it outside in the fall.

The plants are very leggy and i am not sure if I should cut off all the leaves in May in prepration for going back outside for the spring/summer season.
I would appreciate any advice on this.
thanks

bought some seeds from the seed catalogues, so I'm ready from that aspect.

I'll probably start them at the end of April and plant them around June sometime, so still some time to enjoy the gorgeous snow!

can't wait...last year we had an infestation of moles...so far no sign. I panicked but all the damage was actually just aeration...it made the grass even better believe it or not. This spring we are anxiously waiting to see if our fish survived in the pond. We got lots of advice, none of it the same so we went with our gut and added a deicer to keep a hole in the ice. The other day the snow melted on top of the ice and LO and BEHOLD saw a few goldfish swimming around...gives me hope :D

I too am anxious to get out in the garden. So I started today! (view my post for info, so I don't repeat myself). I've finished my drawings of where to put new flower beds in this year. Now I'm sorting through plants and choosing what to put where! It's so fun. I can't wait to see what last years beds look like (this is my 2nd year planting too!). I have a "cottage garden" theme I'm trying to achieve, in both my house and garden. I think 2 or 3 more growing seasons, and I'll have it!
