One of the plants in my garden was a donation from places unknown (thanks to my helpers). They said it was a perennial onion. Well it's growing great but now I am not sure if I am supposed to harvest any of it or what as it's like no onion I am familiar with.
I always thought onions grew, you pulled them and ate the bulb and maybe some of the greens but this one has little onion like things growing at the top. So I looked up images of onions and found walking onions and that seems to be it. What I can't find out is what to do with it. Do I harvest the little onions, do they flower, do I pick it and use the root/bulb? The only info I found says the little onions at the top will reseed the plant and it will 'walk' around the garden as it spreads.
I'm attaching one of the pictures I found so you can see what I am talking about.
