Anyone use laser measuring tapes?

Just wondering if they are handy as they seem....

I'm thinking it would make measuring a client's room much easier....it would save having to climb over things or move things to get measurements, but I worry about the accuracy of them. They say the accuracy is 99.5% +/- 1 digit.

Thoughts?

I had the same thought as you only to be totally disappointed!

Apparently the trick to accuracy is that it has to read from level surfaces but nothing is ever level...hence the wacky measures.

Sounded like a great fancy shmancy tool but the so un-shmancy good old tape measure never fails! :D

Since you said D'yn didn't have anything to hang, I'm thinking you must mean a laser level???

What I'm talking about is an actual laser measuring tape. You're supposed to be able to hold it against one wall and measure to the opposite, but it's really inaccurate. Inaccurate anywhere from a few inches to a few feet...obviously not something that's good for drawing up floor plans!

And no - LOL! I wasn't drinking! :D It's Zircon brand.

NOOOOO!!! I so wanted one!!! I almost dug a hole through the ground to Canadian Tire one Sunday afternoon because I wanted it so badly.
I know Dyn got one, and I haven't heard her complaining about it, unless she hasn't had anything to hang lately. I wonder if there's a difference in product?? Which one did you get, so I know to stay clear of that one! - or did you have a drinky-poo?

...I picked one up to test it out and it's a hunk o' junk. Totally inaccurate...it reads one measurement then a completely different one & I haven't even moved it.

The big dummies.
