When we were choosing our flooring 4 years ago, we went with laminate because hard wood was out of our budget and we don't care for tile floors. Anyways, I knew i didn't want high gloss type because of footprints showing so badly, so we went with a nice medium tone wide plank called Sacramento Pine. It's a matte finish, but still shows footprints and now paw prints. :hairpull: We are likely going to build again, and I would love to go with a darker colour of wide plank laminate with a rustic look, with some newer kind of underlay to deaden the hollow sound a bit. We have 2 kids - 7 and 10 and a chocolate lab in the house. But I'm concerned about prints... will a darker colour be better or worse? I think now there are finishes that are even more dull/rustic that our matte finish, so that would probably help as well? I'm not sure what makes the difference - the finish, colour, or?? Any advice?
Maybe I just need to mop more often.
Here's a pic of flooring I like.
