Attaching A Photo

[Please note that although the followup comments may be applicable, the start of this thread is an old post, and refers to a previous incarnation of the forums. - ADMIN]

If anyone else wants to add to this post, feel free. Since this question comes up so often, this could be bumped up as needed. This is from a previous post. You can see that there are at least two ways to make your photos a size suitable for posting. Hope this helps. 1. click on manage attachments click on browse right click on whatever picture you want. click on edit click on image. than stretch/skew. horizontal & vertical go 55%. click okay click on X. save changes---click yes. click on open click on upload. You would either get it saying current attachment [which means picture uploaded] or image too large-----if so just repeat steps. In stretch/skew work your way down in percentage ex: 50%,45% and so on till it accepts. Note: You also need some text in the body of the post. 2. I prefer to alter the size of my photos prior to posting them. I edit my original photo to the sizes below, save it under a new name and then attach it. From the FAQ: The dimensions for picture posting are as follows: Maximum file size: 250000 bytes (approximately 250 kilobytes) Maximum image width: 600 pixels Maximum image height: 450... .

I find it unusual that with the last forum format we didn't have to resize our pictures...We did awhile back but not for  the last year or so...Why do we have to now?

Do you have a program to resize photos ?  If not try using paint. Open your photo in paint, then click IMAGE, then ATTRIBUTES.

clear what is in the 2  boxes and type 200  and 200 (pixels)

Things all seem to be new here. Can't quite figure out how to start a new thread here yet, so I bumped up this old one in view & figured I would ask the question here.

Was trying earlier here how to put up an avatar and could figure out the steps quite easily but all my pictures seem to be too small :

less than 200 X 200 pixels.

I don't know the steps or requirement to resize my pics.

???

Maybe it's a technoglitch as you're suggesting.

I have no problems posting MOST pictures I find online using the method I described. Sometimes you get web sites that don't like people taking their images for use elsewhere, and I can't copy and paste them, but normally it's not a problem.

Nope, Nestor it just doesn't show up. I checked your post with one of my magic mod buttons and the link is there in your original post but it (the photo and the link) does not show on my screen when posted. I assume since it was originally an ad on the site, my ad blocker has blocked it (it blocks by image address when it comes to ads so anytime it sees an address that is already blocked, it continues to block it). The other images have shown up and I assume that is because they are not recognized as ads by my software.

Dustbunnydiva:

The Knorr banner is in the PREVIOUS post, the one posted at 13:23.

The Knorr banner will be found after point #4, but before the statement:
"As you can see, I've copied that Knorr banner so it's reproduced inside my post."

You should find it on your computer screen cuz it shows up plain as day on my computer screen. Maybe you're not allowing sufficient time for it to load (?)

I don't see the knorr image on your post. Maybe it's because I have ad blocker up.... love the carometer.

Here's what I do and I find it easy enough:

Suppose you want to post an image you find on some web page. Let's say the Knorr banner at the top of this page:

1. Just right click on the Knorr banner and left click on "Properties"

2. The Prroperties dialogue box will give the Address (URL): of the picture or banner or graphic. Position your mouse cursor at the beginning of the [url]http://,[/url] hold down the left moust button and drag it over to the bottom right corner of the URL to highlight the internet location of the image. Then press CTRL -C which is the Windows short cut for COPY. (That is, hold the CTRL key down and hit the "C" key.)

3. Left click on the Icon that looks like a postcard on the "Reply to Thread" box and a box pops up asking for the URL of the image. Press the Delete key on the keyboard to delete the http:// and press CTRL - V which is the Windows short cut for Paste. Your images URL should appear betweem [IMG} and [/IMG] tags in your post.

4. When you click "Submit Reply" at the bottom of the "Reply to Thread" area, the image should appear in your post, like this:

[IMG]http://ox.houseandhome.com/www/delivery/ai.php?filename=leaderboard_knorr.jpg&contenttype=jpeg[/IMG]

As you can see, I've copied that Knorr banner so it's reproduced inside my post.

You can upload pictures you take with a digital camera to web sites like Photobucket so that you can either provide a link to those pictures in your post or put the image itself in your post.

Posting pictures are quite easy to do once you know the procedure.
The only thing I dislike it having to go back and forth in the skewing since majority are to large and working your way down. Its so time consuming :hairpull:
Once went to small and you could hardly see it.

Some forums you can't post pictures.......at least its a bonus here. At times its just to hard to discribe your problem and a picture sure does make it easier :) .

Jan from Van - this information is invaluable. Now I can try it out to see if I can get a pic added to my thread. I appreciate all the work you went to to spell the process out step-by-step.
