The maple tree colours aren't as vibrant this year as they usually are :( But, we have a few nice plants in our backyard that are really red -- some dwarf burning bushes and a little amur maple (which will hopefully get bigger!!) It was windy when I took the pics, so a couple are a bit blurry -- just think of them as artsy ;)

Thanks Pearl_girl! That was a great tip. I love plants and trees, but I'm new to tending to an outdoor garden all of my own. I need all the help I can get!
Due to the wet spring and humid summer we have had many of the malple varieties lose their leaves early before being out in full colour. I was looking at some of spots on the leaves on the lawn and the dark spots are quarter size, Tar spot is a fungus disease, so it is important not to leave them on the ground in flower beds or the lawn over the winter, Best to bag them up to prevent the spread next year to new growth.
they look super pretty! I have a japanese maple in our yard and it usually becomes a beautiful red...hasn't gotten there quite yet.
I love burning bush. And cute doggie!
Have you planted any fall bulbs? I saw Cityline the other day and there were some beautiful suggestions for planting this time of year for the very very first sign of spring. One was called snow blossom I think and it was georgous!
I am in Calgary so it is a little tricky with the chinooks etc. I am going to have to get onthat this weekend if I plan to have anything come up this spring!!
