Hello,
Me and my husband just purchased our first home, and we love everything about it EXCEPT the master bathroom.
We are planning a future renovation but cant afford to do that right now.
I have attached a photo of the bathroom, do you have any suggestions on how I can make this a more modern friendly bathroom with a budget?
What accent colors would you suggest

bathroom decor
Bathroom is not considered just a utility these days. They are seen as the room or space
that sets the mood of the rest of your day in the morning, where you can spend some time
with just yourself and pamper yourself, free from the worries of the world. The master
bathroom or luxury bathrooms today include at least a toilet, bidet, two sinks, separate
tub and shower, whirlpool or spa and perhaps more. There are half bathrooms that only
have a sink and toilet while full bathrooms have bathtub and shower combo along with it.
Smaller bathrooms may just have shower area or corner shower stall instead of both tub
and shower. Children's bathroom may omit a thing or two but is more colorful and has
energetic feel.
I don't mind the white grout, it gives some kind of interest to an otherwise plain, black wall. A black vanity and new countertop in carerra marble maybe, I have seen some very budget friendly stone countertops in Home Depot recently. I might recycle the sink but new taps for sure. The mirror is ok but if the budget allows for a new one, check Homesense and Zellers even.
I agree, deal with the white grout and you have a great looking bathroom.
I like picture number 1 the best.
With the basic black and white background you have a gazillion choices to introduce other colors or leave it as black and white.
I really like DBD's first pic as well. I think you also could do something with the mirror frame, the paint colour (depending on what the bedroom colour scheme is) and definitely if you are replacing the counter top anyway - replace the sink and the faucet. The faucet is like the jewel of the room and the one that is there is definitely not a jewel.
If you are replacing the sink (please do) get a "widespread" on 8 inch centres instead of the 4 inch center you have now - it always knocks the look up a notch to go widespread.
The shelves over the toilet need to be changed too - they leave too much dead space between the bottom shelf and the toilet tank - it looks disconnected. A nice picture, or even a towel rack would look better there.
You won't need a major reno when you are done - you have all the basic elements, the just need "tweaking" (a term trademarked by Janet lol).
I agree with Sweetpea Black & White will update your look for very little money.
You can't go wrong with black, white & gray as the colour theme.
I like the black cabinet too. It seems to anchor the other side of the room...:)
I tried some mock ups just making the grout black and then tried painting your cabinet and replacing your countertop. Not sure if that is the type of thing you are thinking of but it may give you some ideas.
I love the first photo. Black and black. What a quick difference that makes. I am sure that the last time I asked about changing grout colour they told me there was something that could be done.
Have to say though, my experience with Sharpies makes me agree....could be simple. ;)
I combined both threads about this for you.
Now if this was my bathroom the first thing I'd want out of there is the white grout. It's a total pain to remove and replace but maybe there is a way around it. I've painted grout before and it was fine but I don't know if it would stand up to a shower. You might call a tile store to see if they have some tint or something you can use for such a wet area and maybe you can tone down that white. Sheesh, push comes to shove, a black sharpie might take care of it since that stuff stains anything permanently.

What is or are the elements of this bathroom that you do not like ?
What are your tastes ? How would you describe your dream ideal bathroom ?
Colour, style preferences ?
:)
