A bathroom makeover that I'm really proud of!

Hello everyone... I thought I'd share a bathroom maker over I just completed for a friend. I designed everything, including the custom made vanity/linen tower, tile layout, chose all the fixtures, etc. AND I did most of the work (i.e., personally did all the tiling [floors and walls] and some painting... other elements were done by my "team", consisting of my brother and husband). My friend loves it!!

Before:

After:

Beautiful don't you think?!! The mirror is temporary - too small. My friend and I are looking for the perfect mirror for this lovely space - something oval with either a mirrored frame or a chrome frame. Also... my friend is getting a glass shelf to hang over the toilet... that's why the art is hanging a bit high; to make room for things that will sit on the shelf.

The tiles - mosiac glass (three kinds of glass), marble and stainless steel. The vanity has a stainless steel base and strip across the top (under the quartz counter)... with a stainless crown at the top of the linen tower (see below)

Hope you like this transformation as much as we do!!

Victoria

I changed my mind and did not use either product in photos.

First the carrera strip that I was looking at would not work. No matter how many strips you cut

3 or 4 or 6 , they never lined up with the others. In other words you had to use the whole 12 inch piece in order to have another piece line up. So we forgot that idea and went with just plain subwys , no borders. Then we changed our mind on the floor and use octagon and black dot.

So what did you decide to do Zulu?

I hope you went with an accent that was the same thickness as your main tile.

That is an incredible bathroom. Very well done. Your friend must be thrilled.

I need advice for my bathroom. It is small 5 feet by 7 feet.

For the floor I am thinking of going with Porcelain tle that resembles Carrera Marble. 12 by 12 in a diamond pattern. Photo attached.

Then I would like to put white subway tiles on the three walls of tub/shower combo walls, and half way up the remaining bathroom walls.

Here is the thing I am wanting to try but do not know if this is a mistake.

I love this (photo attached) strip of carrera marble. It comes in 12 by 12 mesh backed piece. And I would like to cut three strips of it and use it as a top border all around my subway in the bathroom part of room (not in the tub area) . Here is my delema: the carrera strips would be about 1/4 inch thicker than the subway so would protrude.

Do you think this would look silly or do you think it would be OK.

WOW!  Very inspiring...i love how everything ties in so perfectly.  Now if only I could do the same with our bath reno.  Perhaps you have some tips for me? ; )  I just posted seeking help so maybe you have some suggestions...would love to hear them.

Great job!

I think it's a beautiful makeover.  The tile work is especially impressive!  I have one teeny-tiny suggestion though.  To me the handles on the vanity are too large and stand out too much.   I might have chosen a slimmer profile or a darker finish so they would not draw so much attention.

Thank you!  It works so well in this room.  Not all whites are created equal, so I like to take note of the ones that the pros choose!

Wow, it's gorgeous!!

I'm in the middle of trying to pick things to update my bathroom.  Can you give me the details of the tub?  I would like a simple one without all the scrol-i-ness of some.  But, I am on a tight budget!  Thanks!  Job well done!

Hi Tango! You should be proud! Lovely job! It's funny as we are planning a bathroom reno and I think that I looked at the white tiles in the shower area and the same faucets (Eiffel?) I was thinking of running the tiles vertically up the wall. Still trying to decide. I am caught between a contemporary look or classic look (marble?) What about a round mirror for your friend (everything is rectangular shape now) This is from Renwil (Canadian) We put this in my sister's powder room. 40 X 40. We did 2 hanging pendants, as well and it looks stunning! The picture does not do it justice.

Victoria, the makeover is incredible! I love the effect of the small mosiac tile used on the walls surrounding the bath tub. The vanity is beautiful! Truly a magazine worthy makeover!
