Best solution for skunk odour

My silly dog got herself sprayed with a skunk last night. Ugh.
We bathed her in tomato juice but had limited success with that. She still stinks and is very sad to be outside all the time but I don't want her lying on my carpets. Does anyone have a tried and true solution for removing the odour from her fur?

Prepare the Solution
Collect the following ingredients for a small or average-sized animal, and mix them in an open bucket or container: 1 qt. of 3 percent solution hydrogen peroxide, 1 tsp. of liquid dish washing soap and 1/4 cup of baking soda. Double the amounts for a large animal.
Apply the Solution
Do not wet or bathe the pet before applying the peroxide solution. Pour the solution evenly over the animal, avoiding the face. Work it into the fur and skin. Leave the solution on the dog for 10 to 20 minutes. To clean the face, dip a toothbrush in the solution and carefully rub it into the fur. Thoroughly rinse the pet with warm water after the 10- to 20-minute waiting period. Repeat if some odor remains.

My doggie got the aftermath of a skunk spraying from the other side of our fence this summer. His head and paws were hit, so I immediately dragged him to the tub and used dog shampoo to get it out. We couldn't smell anything anymore so I thought we were fine.

A week later he went for his grooming. The groomer called me and asked why I didn't tell her about the skunk, since once he was wet remnants of the skunk scent came back. Feeling like a horrible dog owner now! For future skunk problems, she told me to purchase a home permanent kit, throw out all of the contents except the neutralizer. Let the neutralizer dry on his fur, and then shampoo it off. The neutralizer does not irritate the skin or damage the fur.

When our dog got into a fight with a skunk a few years ago we went to the Vets and bought a spray called Skunk Off and it really worked. We had it in our truck and our clothes by the time we got them separated and home and it worked on all the items.

As soon as we doused her with tomato juice, she ran and rolled in the garden - what a mess! all outside in the dark too.
Luckily it was a warm night so we hosed her down outside. The next day I used the peroxide treatment - and no, it didn't change her hair colour, but it's light to begin with. Not sure what would have happened had she had black fur.
Today she still has a faint odour of eau de skunk, so she'll need another bath, this time maybe with dog shampoo.

Our dogs, in less than 10 minutes, would be roling around all over the house trying to get rid of the shampoo. I don't want to know what that would do to the rugs or furniture.

Outisde - well that means several washes in between grass rubs. Very difficult to get that 10 minute waiting period.

THanks - I got that recipe from the internet and tried it. It seems to have worked pretty well - she is miserable though - she did not enjoy that bath at all! Anyway, let's hope she has learned that skunks are not her friends!
